WHEREAS, “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God” entitle each people to a “separate and equal station among the powers of the earth” in order to “secure their safety and happiness”;
WHEREAS, “We the People of the United States” established the United States Constitution to “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity”;
WHEREAS, George Washington advised America to “steer clear of permanent Alliances, with any portion of the foreign world,” and observed that “interweaving our destiny with that of any part of Europe” would “entangle our peace and prosperity in the toils of European ambition, Rivalship, Interest, Humour or Caprice”;
WHEREAS, John Quincy Adams declared that America “goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy,” affirming that “she is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all,” but “the champion and vindicator only of her own”;
WHEREAS, Dwight D. Eisenhower warned Americans that “an immense military establishment” could acquire “unwarranted influence” in our “councils of government” and “endanger our liberties or democratic processes,” and that “public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite”;
WHEREAS, since the year 2000 the American electorate has repudiated our entrenched foreign policy class, consistently favoring candidates from both parties for the presidency who disavow nation-building adventures, promise to bring our troops home, and affirm the priority of domestic peace and prosperity;
BE IT RESOLVED, that __________________________________ supports greater restraint in foreign policy, a renewed commitment to the common good of the American people, and a return to the foreign policy principles of the American Founders.

WHEREAS, George Washington advised America to “steer clear of permanent Alliances, with any portion of the foreign world,” and predicted that “interweaving our destiny with that of any part of Europe” would “entangle our peace and prosperity in the toils of European ambition, Rivalship, Interest, Humour or Caprice”;

WHEREAS, since the year 2000 the American electorate has frequently favored presidential candidates from both parties who disavow nation-building adventures, commit to concluding open-ended wars on terms favorable to the United States, and promise to bring our troops home;
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Fremont County Republican Party supports greater realism and restraint in foreign policy; a renewed commitment to the domestic peace, prosperity, and self-sufficiency of our own nation; and a return to the foreign policy principles of the American Founders.
