So my friend Telly Davidson joined me on the podcast for a conversation on cinema & TV after 9/11. We talked about the transformation of Hollywood, the darkening mood, as well as three curious facts. First, the reenactment of 9/11 has been almost entirely left to the super-hero fantasy movies; if you were too young to see it on TV, probably, that’s where your emotions come from… Secondly, the talent in Hollywood shied away from the task of forming the national memory. Thirdly, it was TV that talked terrorism incessantly, in one hysterical way or another, with espionage shows that made the most vulgar drama the ordinary experience of viewers for two decades.
