The future GOP, Ohio Senatorial edition
My friends at the Claremont Institute have a new Center For The American Way Of Life in D.C., led by Arthur Milikh, a man with a good education in political philosophy & a fiery spirit for political fights. He’s organized a conference on the future of conservatism in respect to fighting Woke Capital. The political highlight was future Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance’s ~20min speech, which you can witness below.
Vance is all about attacking corporations whenever they ally with the anti-American left—BLM, antifa, critical race theory, &c.—including corporations in higher education, big tech, & NGOs. He wants to use public policy to do so, which implies that conservative media, party organizations, & think tanks would largely have to reorient themselves. This is a massive shift in conservative thought—the future is taking control of the bureaucracies, agencies, civil service. It would of course require a Congress that goes back to the work of legislation, oversight of the executive, & persuading the people to support a wholesale attack on oligarchy.
The conference is all of it on youtube if you’re interested: The speakers on the first panel are Arthur Milikh, Matt Peterson, David Azerrad, Joel Kotkin, & Dan McCarthy. The second panel: Mike Anton, Andrew Puzder, Chris Rufo.
