Amazing. Among your many excellent interviews, Titus, this is the one I know I have to come back to again and again.

For beginners in Montesquieu, I rec. the relevant chapter in James Ceaser's Liberal Democracy in Political Science, also a must-read on its own terms. For those interested in the universals v. particulars issue, I rec. Chantal Delsol's treatment in Unjust Justice: Against the Tyranny of International Law. For history-heads, I will quote what I said in one of my NRO Pomocon essays on Rome: "Montesquieu knew the source literature on Rome’s history as well as anyone does today," and rec. his intriguing little book on Roman history. Finally, for those interested in the "Montesquieu and commerce" question, I rec. book by by my former colleague Andrew Bibby, Montesquieu's Political Economy.

I really enjoyed it Titus, especially the part on the Romans 44 minutes in. I have an electronic copy of Bill Allen's translation, can't wait to take a look at it.

Happy Easter to you Titus, and you too Paul!
